On December 15, the Hainan 500-kV main grid project, a key project included in China’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for power development and a major project of the Hainan Free Trade Port, was fully put into operation. This project, based on the overall situation of national energy security and the construction of a new power system, aims to build a safe, reliable, intelligent and efficient provincial core backbone grid, providing solid support for the large-scale development and consumption of clean energy and the development of the digital economy.
The Longdong-Shandong ±800 kilovolt ultra-high voltage (UHV) direct current (DC) transmission project was completed and put into operation on May 8. This project is a major energy artery of China’s west-to-east power transmission program, starting from Qingyang in Northwest China’s Gansu Province to Tai’an, East China’s Shandong Province.
