The first solar-storage-charge comprehensive project in the Macao Special Administrative Region has been fully built at the Taipa Ferry Terminal. The project, undertaken by Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited, features distributed photovoltaic power generation, coordinated power storage and distribution and intelligent electricity charging, forming a complete power supply system.
The facility has a total installed capacity of 64.8 kilowatts and is equipped with a 50-kW inverter, a 215-kWh energy storage system and a 120-kW dual-gun fast charging station. It is estimated to be able to generate 82,810 kWh of electricity in the first year of operations.
Considering Macao’s frequent typhoons and its hot and rainy climate, engineers have innovatively employed gabled installation methods, significantly enhancing the wind resistance of the solar panels and optimizing drainage.
Once the project goes into service, its clean power will be primarily used for the daily operations at the ferry terminal and to charge new energy vehicles, and surplus electricity will be stored and managed by the energy storage system.
In June, the project had a trial run, with over 6,229 kWh of clean electricity generated in the month, significantly reducing power costs and conserving energy.
Once fully operational, it is expected to continuously advance the upgrading of Macao’s energy structure and promote the city’s low-carbon, high-quality development.
