CNPC Debuts 4000-Ton Offshore Support Vessel

Updated: July 09, 2026

A 4,000-ton electric platform supply vessel (PSV) built by CNPC Offshore Engineering Company Limited, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), was launched on July 2 in Dalian, a city in Northeast China’s Liaoning Province.

The vessel doubles the cargo capacity of CNPC’s current largest PSV and is the company’s first offshore support vessel equipped with pre-installed interfaces for battery-hybrid power.

The vessel achieves key technological breakthroughs in hybrid power, hazardous chemical supply and noise reduction. In terms of power, it is fitted with pre-installed interfaces for a large-capacity battery. Once upgraded, the vessel can switch among different power sources to ensure a stable power supply and achieve energy conservation.

With a load capacity of 4,300 metric tons and a deck area of 920 square meters, the vessel is certified to safely transport low-flashpoint liquids such as methanol and ethylene glycol. Evolving from a standard carrier into a multifunctional offshore supply hub, it robustly supports material logistics in complex offshore scenarios.

Leveraging full-ship acoustic modeling and systematic sound-damping modifications, noise levels in living areas have been reduced by 8-20 dB, with vibration attenuation reaching 94.9 percent. This creates a healthier and more livable environment for personnel on extended offshore assignments.
