CNPC Daqing Oilfield’s Wind and Solar Power Generation Exceeds 3 Billion kWh

Updated: June 02, 2026

As of May 22, the Daqing Oilfield of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has attained a total installed capacity of 3,280 megawatts for wind and solar projects under construction and in operation.

Its cumulative green power generation has surpassed 3 billion kWh. Ranking first within CNPC in terms of self-consumption and profitability, the oilfield has taken a critical step in transitioning from traditional oil and gas production to integrated multi-energy synergy.

All 3 billion kWh of green power has been directly used for the company’s core production operations, including oil extraction and water injection. This initiative effectively replaces conventional energy consumption, optimizes the energy mix, and reduces the cost of purchasing electricity from the grid.

Based on thermal power benchmarks, this volume of green power is equivalent to saving about 900,000 metric tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.66 million metric tons.
