“The Government Work Report emphasizes original innovation and core technological breakthroughs,” said Li Nina, a researcher at the Guiyang Engine Research Institute of Aero Engine Corporation of China, adding that this sounded a new call for action to scientific and technological personnel.

Li, who is also a deputy to the National People’s Congress, expressed her commitment to working hard on basic research and core technological breakthroughs to help achieve China’s high-level self-reliance in science and technology.

Li suggested improving State-owned enterprises’ procurement policies for gas turbines and launching more supportive policies to facilitate the application of domestically made gas turbines. She emphasized that domestic gas turbine demonstration projects should be incorporated into the local power development plan, thereby promoting their large-scale pilot application. She called for greater financial support for these turbines through dedicated funding. She proposed incorporating the domestic gas turbine industry into key national programs aimed at strengthening industrial foundations and promoting high-quality development. Support should also be given to leading companies and related projects across the gas turbine industrial chain to enhance coordinated innovation and overall industrial capacity, she added.
