On May 27, China’s first pile-foundation fixed offshore solar power project, China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN)’s 400-megawatt Yantai Zhaoyuan offshore solar power project in East China’s Shandong Province, was fully connected to the grid.
The project will generate an average of 694 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This output is equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by approximately 208,700 metric tons and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by about 535,800 tons per year. The project uses innovative products, including double glazing panel offshore PV modules. It has also established a replicable and promotable complete set of construction techniques for offshore photovoltaic projects, crucial for large-scale offshore PV development in China.
