On April 17, the 700 MW high-efficiency ultra-supercritical circulating fluidized bed (CFB) power generation unit at Yuneng Honghe Power Plant successfully completed a 168-hour trial run, marking the official operation of the world's first 700 MW ultra-supercritical CFB boiler.
Developed by Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC), the project is equipped with three major core units — the boiler, steam turbine, and generator. The boiler adopts the most advanced high-efficiency ultra-supercritical CFB power generation technology, featuring a large single-unit capacity, advanced generation technology, high overall efficiency, and superior comprehensive benefits in energy conservation and environmental protection. It overcomes challenges posed by high-altitude conditions and the combustion of high-moisture, low-calorific-value lignite.
Key technical difficulties, including uniform combustion and material distribution in an ultra-large furnace, secondary air penetration, and hydrodynamic safety and stability were successfully addressed. The unit is equipped with flue gas desulfurization and denitrification devices independently developed by DEC with proprietary intellectual property rights. As the world’s first benchmark project to achieve a desulfurization efficiency exceeding 99.5 percent through a single-tower, single-cycle process, it enables more economical and effective ultra-low emissions from flue gas generated by high-sulfur coal combustion.
