8th China Enterprise Forum Held in Beijing

The 8th China Enterprise Forum was held in Beijing from November 3 to 4, under the joint guidance of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and Xinhua News Agency.

Gao Yunlong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of ACFIC, Zhang Yuzhuo, Chairman of SASAC, and Liu Jian, Vice President of Xinhua News Agency, addressed the event. Tan Zuojun, Vice Chairman of SASAC, presided over the main forum. Li Zhen, Vice Chairman of SASAC, and Xiao Zonghui, Member of the CPC Committee of SASAC, attended related parallel sessions.

Gao Yunlong stated that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has charted the course and made strategic plans for development over the next five years, which provides a scientific guide for forging a new path in advancing Chinese modernization and fundamental guidelines for the high-quality development of enterprises.

He emphasized that on the new journey, enterprises must seize the trends of the times, enhance their strategic resolve, remain committed to their core business, strengthen real economy operations, and deepen their professional expertise. Through persistent efforts, more time-honored enterprises will be cultivated, and their value will be elevated by contributing to the country’s overall development.

Gao called for strengthening innovation-driven development and vigorously promoting entrepreneurship. He urged enterprises to aim at the frontiers of science and technology, increase investment, concentrate efforts on making key breakthroughs, accelerate the upgrading of traditional industries and the cultivation of emerging industries, forge core competencies, and consciously avoid rat-race competition. This will help accelerate the establishment and improvement of modern enterprise systems with Chinese characteristics, and create more world-class enterprises with international competitiveness.

He also highlighted the importance of deepening collaboration and cooperation. Enterprises should actively integrate into the national unified market, engage deeply in the global industrial division of labor, and jointly foster a sound industrial ecosystem. Leveraging the strengths of both state-owned and private enterprises will enable coordinated development among businesses of all sizes, facilitate synergy across the industrial chain, and forge a powerful driving force for enterprise growth.

Zhang Yuzhuo emphasized that enterprises must align with the strategic plans made at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, positioning themselves within the broader trends of the times and shouldering their mission within the country's overall development.

He called for joint efforts to promote industrial upgrading, urging enterprises to optimize and upgrade traditional industries, and foster and strengthen emerging and future industries based on local conditions, to chart a "second curve" of growth, build a modern industrial system anchored by advanced manufacturing, and explore new frontiers for high-quality growth.

He also called for joint efforts to promote self-reliance and strength in science and technology, urging enterprises to integrate more proactively into the national innovation system, strengthen original innovation and research on key core technologies, accelerate the efficient transformation and application of major scientific and technological achievements, deepen the integration of technological and industrial innovation, and rapidly unleash new momentum for the development of new quality productive forces.

He called for joint efforts to promote deeper reforms, urging enterprises to deepen the renewal thinking, innovation concepts, and transform mechanisms, continuously improve total factor productivity and accelerate the establishment of a new mechanism for modern enterprise governance with Chinese characteristics.

Additionally, he called for joint efforts to promote mutually beneficial cooperation, urging enterprises to leverage their comparative advantages, avoid rat-race competition, focus on their core businesses, and pursue differentiated development, deepen practical collaboration in technology, industry, talent, and other areas, and accelerate the formation of a new landscape characterized by orderly competition and cooperation for win-win development.

Liu Jian stated that Xinhua News Agency has long paid close attention to China’s economic performance and enterprise development, offering insights into economic policymaking and bolstering support for business advancement.

He noted that Xinhua will continue to leverage its strengths, promptly follow up and report on new trends and developments in the economic market, delve into new needs and practices in enterprise innovation and development, and produce a series of high-quality reports, to cultivate a favorable public opinion atmosphere for economic development and the high-quality development of enterprises.

The forum was held with the theme "Chinese Enterprises: Strategic Resolve and Innovative Progress". At the main forum, Jiang Xiaojuan, Honorary President of the China Society of Industrial Economics, along with senior executives and experts from corporations such as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Huaneng Group, China National Machinery Industry Corporation, China Information and Communication Technology Group, Hisense Group, Guangzhou Digital Technology Group, Heilan Group, iFlytek, and China Mobile, delivered speeches and exchanged views on related topics.

The forum released a series of significant outcomes, including the TOP 100 List of Chinese Enterprise Brand Value, the Report on High-Quality Development of Central State-owned Enterprises (2025), and the 2025 Report on Brand Value of Central State-owned Enterprises.

It also featured parallel forums such as the CEF Global Dialogue, the Seminar on Theoretical Innovation and Development of the State-owned Economy in the New Era, and the 11th Annual Conference on New Media of Chinese Enterprises.

About 500 representatives from government departments, the business community, and academic institutions participated in the forum.
