The World's First Floating Wind Power-Fishery Integrated Project Receives Fish Fry

Updated: May 09, 2024

China Longyuan Power Group Corporation, a subsidiary of CHN Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd (CHN Energy), recently released the first batch of large yellow croaker fry to the world's first floating wind power-fishery integration project, "Guoneng Sharing".

It marks the implementation of the project's fishery breeding plan and helps to create a new model of integrated development of floating wind power and the fishery industry.

"Guoneng Sharing" is located in the National Marine Ranch Demonstration Zone of Nanri Island, Putian, Fujian province. The sea area is about 35 meters in depth. It adopts a semi-submersible structure with three columns in the shape of an equilateral triangle. A 4-megawatt offshore wind turbine is installed on the platform.

Inside the triangle is a net cage for aquaculture. The volume of water used for fish farming is about 10,000 cubic meters. It is the first innovative application of the integrated design concept of deep-sea floating wind power and fishery breeding in the world.

The project is equipped with complete deep-sea aquaculture equipment, and simultaneously the data sensor for online monitoring of water quality and environment.

The first batch of released large yellow croaker fry has a specification of 700-800 grams per tail, and the breeding cycle is 3 to 4 months. After the initial fish stocks stabilize, additional fish fry will be released in due course. It is estimated that the entire breeding cycle could yield profits in millions of yuan.
