China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) recently announced that Deep Sea No 1, the first large-scale ultra-deep-water gas field independently explored and developed by China, has produced 7 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 700,000 cubic meters of crude oil.
The second phase of the gas field has a natural gas reserve of about 50 billion cubic meters and is expected to have a peak output of about 1.5 billion cubic meters. Its main operation area is about 70 kilometers from the energy station.
Renovation to improve output has been launched at the gas field. Upon completion, the energy station is expected to become the control center of China’s largest deep-water gas field cluster and is capable of controlling work of 23 deepwater gas wells and two sets of underwater production systems. It will lay foundation for operation of the second phase of the Shenhai Yihao project.
In 2023, CNOOC launched remote control production renovation, and China’s first inspection and repairing work of ultra-deep-water pipeline and irregular cabin. All the endeavors helped guarantee the daily natural gas output can reach the designed peak amount of 10 million cubic meters and promoted increase of the country’s deepwater oil and gas output.
