Connection of all main spans of the Changsha Bay Cross-sea Bridge, a key section of the highway linking Lufeng of Shanwei and Longgang of Shenzhen in South China’s Guangdong Province, was completed on Jan 21. This project was constructed by China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited.

The Changsha Bay Cross-sea Bridge is 2,108 meters long. It neighbors the sea with frequent tides and huge tidal flow velocities, so that the complicated hydrologic conditions and extreme weather like typhoons, thunder storms and high temperatures, as well as the strong convection weather system, make the construction of the bridge extremely difficult.

During construction, smart technologies like automated temperature measurement were adopted to realize real-time monitoring and accurate engineering.
With a total length of about 146 kilometers, the highway connecting Lufeng and Longgang is the longest highway renovation and expansion project in Guangdong.

Once operational, the highway is expected to improve traffic capacity of the national highway network, promote economic development and industry upgrading of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and support a regional new development pattern in Guangdong.
