As of 2:00 pm on October 15, China Energy Investment Corporation Co., Ltd. (CHN Energy) recorded a cumulative power generation of 1 trillion kilowatt-hours since the beginning of 2026, making it the sixth consecutive year it has reached the milestone. It hit the milestone five days earlier than in 2025.
CHN Energy has accelerated the construction of clean and high-efficiency power facilities since the start of this year. New generating units — including Unit 5 of the Dingzhou Power Plant, Unit 5 of the Cangdong Power Plant and Unit 3 of the Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station on the Dadu River — have been put into operation one after another, increasing power supply in crucial regions.
On June 22, China Longyuan Power Group Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of CHN Energy, connected Unit 9 of its Qiyuan Offshore Wind Farm in China’s southernmost Hainan Province with the grid, enabling the corporation’s total installed power capacity to surpass 400 million kilowatts, a new global record for installed capacity among energy enterprises worldwide.
To deal with sustained heatwaves, typhoons and heavy downpours in summer, CHN Energy made use of its integrated coal-power-chemical-transportation advantages to arrange the shipment of coal in advance to replenish stockpiles. It conducted inspections at key plants and stations to identify potential dangers and adopted meteorological early warning and emergency command systems to achieve precise dispatching. It also coordinated flood control and hydropower generation at reservoirs to meet peak electricity demand.
On July 14, the corporation’s power generation load exceeded 197 million kW, an all-time high and enough to meet more than one-eighth of the country’s total power demand that day.
CHN Energy has also advanced AI-enabled smart development. It has stepped up R&D and rolled out high-value application scenarios for its Qingyuan large model, covering the corporation’s three major business sectors — thermal power, new energy and hydropower. The large model has been deployed on a scalable basis across 29 categories of scenarios, including power monitoring, data analysis and safety supervision, generating replicable and promotable experience.
