Unit 1 of the Biovea 46-megawatt Biomass Power Plant in Cote d’Ivoire recently passed endurance and performance tests, showing that the entire power plant meets the conditions for commercial operation and handover.
The Biovea 46-megawatt Biomass Power Plant, the largest biomass power plant currently under construction in West Africa, is built by a consortium of China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited’s construction and international business divisions under an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract.

The power plant, located in Aboisso Department, roughly 100 kilometers east of Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire’s largest city, is equipped with two 23-MW turbo generators and two 105-ton-per-hour grate-fired biomass boilers.
Upon completion, it is expected to generate 348 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, cut carbon dioxide emissions by 180,000 tons per year, and meet the daily electricity needs of 1.7 million residents.
