Piraeus Port Authority S.A. (PPA S.A.) received a Special Award on October 6 at the 9th Infrastructure and Transport Conference (ITC 2026) in Athens, Greece, in recognition of the achievements made in cooperation on port investment, construction and development since China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING) joined the shareholding structure of PPA S.A. ten years ago.

Upon receiving the award, a COSCO SHIPPING PPA S.A. senior official noted that the honor acknowledges the development gains of the past decade and boosts the corporation’s confidence for future endeavors. He emphasized that this award belongs to shareholders, partners and staff at Piraeus Port who have contributed to this effort. He also underscored that it would not have been possible without the support and trust of the Greek government and local communities.
Over the past decade, COSCO SHIPPING, upholding a long-term development philosophy for Piraeus Port, has steadily pressed ahead with port investment and construction, boosted operational capacity and overall competitiveness, and turned the port into a key freight and logistics hub in Southeast Europe. The port has substantially contributed to regional economic development and supply chain connectivity.
Apart from investment and construction, sustained and stable port operation also relies on compliance management. At the recent Greek Compliance Awards 2026, Piraeus Port secured four honors: Gold Award in the category of Best Compliance Team in Port Services Sector, Gold Award in the category of Best Compliance Awareness Activity, Bronze Award in the category of Best Compliance and Ethics Project, and Bronze Award in the category of Best Compliance Risk Mapping.
Judges commented that the compliance team and its programs at the port stand out for their distinctive features and crucial innovation. They can effectively tackle complex compliance challenges and translate compliance management into tangible value for the corporation’s development, according to the judges.
COSCO SHIPPING will take the ten-year milestone as a fresh starting point and continue to deepen cooperation with all stakeholders to build a modern, international and competitive Piraeus Port, delivering greater value for economic growth in Greece and its neighboring regions and facilitating smooth operation of regional supply chains.
The corporation will also improve its compliance management system and pursue innovations in compliance mechanisms to ensure a compliance culture reaches more employees and across all business links.
