Two CIECC Projects Win 2026 FIDIC Project Awards

Updated: September 30, 2026

FIDIC has announced the overall winners of its prestigious Project Awards for 2026 on September 15 in New Delhi, India.

Two major engineering projects that China International Engineering Consulting Corporation (CIECC) offered consultation services and supported in their award applications respectively won the 2026 FIDIC Awards. They are Lianghekou HydroPower Station on Yalong River in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province and the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge in East China’s Jiangsu Province. To date, 14 projects served by CIECC have received the awards.

These annual awards recognize engineering projects that are distinguished by integrity management, technological innovation, sustainable development and high-quality delivery.

The award application for the Lianghekou HydroPower Station on Yalong River was jointly submitted by CIECC, Yalong River Hydropower Development Company and PowerChina Chengdu Engineering Corporation.

The hydropower station features the world’s highest earth-and-rockfill dam. Multiple technical challenges were overcome during construction of the project, including the intelligent construction of an ultra-high earth-and-rockfill dam, winter construction and the design and construction of high-head, high-velocity flood discharge systems. It has set 11 world records and won 21 science and technology awards for technological advancement.

CIECC provided technical consultation and assessment for the power station. Faced with engineering challenges, the corporation offered independent and impartial opinions and suggestions from a third-party perspective.

The award application for the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge was jointly submitted by CIECC and China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute. Connecting the cities of Changzhou and Taizhou in East China’s Jiangsu Province, the bridge is the first cross-river facility combining a highway, an intercity railway and a conventional road over the Yangtze River. With a 1,176-meter main navigational span, it is the world’s longest-span cable-stayed bridge. More than 50 key technological breakthroughs were achieved while building this bridge. After opening to traffic, it will cut the travel time between the two cities from an hour and a half to 20 minutes.

CIECC, responsible for the project’s consultation and assessment, thoroughly and systematically evaluated the necessity of the project and helped optimize the design and investment plans. It analyzed the possible ecological impacts of the project and offered targeted environmental protection measures, providing important technical support to the implementation of the project.
