Fujian Province and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region carried out their first coordination of computing power and green electricity on September 16. On the 30th anniversary of the cooperation between the two regions, this coordinating effort marks a breakthrough in deepening the integrated development of the new power system and computing power network.
The coordination was conducted via video link at 8:45 am. Through the computing power network brain, a computing network infrastructure set up by China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., the computing tasks from pilot racks in the cities of Fuzhou and Xiamen in Fujian were relocated to a data center in Zhongwei, a city in Ningxia. After the tasks were dispatched, the electricity load on the Fujian side fell rapidly, freeing capacity during the midday peak. The load on the Ningxia side rose in step, consuming surplus power generated at noon through photovoltaic panels. The two regions’ grid companies used a new power load management system to precisely match and dynamically control computing load.
The resource profiles of the two regions are complementary: Ningxia has abundant new energy resources and midday PV power, while Fujian has a highly developed digital economy with its data centers requiring a large amount of computing power. The power companies of the two regions have built a cross-provincial invitation and response mode, connecting the new power load management system, virtual power plant platforms and the computing power network brain for data exchange.
Before real operation, they also carried out two rounds of simulated joint debugging to address technical issues, such as cross-regional command synchronization and load timing matching, thereby providing strong support for this coordination.
