The Pinglu Canal officially opened to navigation on September 16. A direct river-sea shipping route connecting Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Yangpu Port in Hainan Province was also inaugurated on the same day, as the first vessel Guangxing 798 departed from Nanning. It arrived at Yangpu Port at around 11:00 am on September 18, loading and unloading various types of cargo such as building materials.
The Yangpu Port operator, China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited, coordinated in advance with the ship operator, cargo owners and other relevant parties to form a dedicated berthing and operation plan. By providing “one ship, one plan” services, it ensured that the vessel could berth at the port immediately upon arrival. It also optimized the allocation of various port resources, such as container cranes, storage yards and container trucks, to load and unload cargo efficiently.
To date, 224 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units of cargo have been unloaded from the vessel.
The Yangpu Port operator will continue to advance the port development, including storage yard construction, digital transformation and diversification of business operations, so as to maximize the port’s role as a key node on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and improve full-process operational efficiency and service quality. This will strengthen the port’s role as a critical hub connecting major international and domestic shipping routes, and better support the high-quality development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the Hainan Free Trade Port.
