China Huadian Corporation Ltd. (CHD) has officially rolled out in Shanghai its self-developed Yuneng large model, China’s first professional AI large model for work safety in the power industry. This marks a major breakthrough in the corporation’s efforts to enhance AI-empowered production safety.
In recent years, CHD has launched a high-level AI initiative for power generation safety, taking AI as a strategic pillar to reshape production models, improve management efficiency and consolidate work safety.
The unveiled large model adopts an innovative “1934” technological system: “1” means a set of large model management specifications, “9” represents nine full-life-circle industrial and technical standards, “3” means three kinds of dataset and large model clusters that cover large language, multimodal and time-series, and “4” is the short narrative of its four features — advancedness, integration, openness and sharing.
By leveraging this large model, CHD has built a hub that can coordinate and command various intelligent agents — the “Smart Brain for Production Management”. The hub fully covers nine core business scenarios, such as operation optimization, malfunction detection and early warning, enabling in-depth integration of AI technology with all scenarios and processes of power production safety.
The large model has high accuracy for its diverse functions: over 95 percent for intention recognition, more than 85 percent for multimodal equipment anomaly detection, more than 90 percent for time-series prediction and anomaly detection, and more than 95 percent for rotating equipment anomaly detection. Notably, the time needed for locating faults in electrical equipment is cut by over 50 percent, significantly reducing manual labor in power unit inspection and maintenance and effectively lowering the overall operational costs of power plants.
CHD intends to further deepen the integration of AI technology and power generation across the full industry chain, facilitate the comprehensive promotion of its scientific and technological achievements, and continuously make breakthroughs in crucial intelligent energy technologies, so as to faithfully fulfill its mission as a central state-owned enterprise in the energy sector.
