A mudslide in Nepal caused heavy casualties and left a large number of people missing around 10:30 am on August 26 at the Gyirong border port of Gyirong County in Xigaze, a city in Southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. Immediately after the disaster, China National Aviation Holding Corporation Limited launched a rapid response and engaged in an emergency relief transportation mission.
At 6:14 am on August 27, emergency chartered flight CA071 took off from Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu, the capital of Southwest China’s Sichuan Province, and landed at Xigaze’s Tingri Airport at 8:25 am. The first emergency relief chartered flight carried 122 rescue workers, four search and rescue dogs, and approximately 3,494 kilograms of disaster relief supplies.
