On August 19, Peru’s National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) held a ceremony in Lima to receive humanitarian supplies and recognize organizations for their contributions.
The INDECI gave special recognition to the Peruvian branch of COSCO SHIPPING Lines Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING), for its coordination, facilitation and logistical support in transporting humanitarian relief supplies. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Chinese embassy in Peru were also honored at the ceremony.

This commendation followed a cross‑ocean humanitarian relief operation. The UNHCR recently donated a shipment of emergency humanitarian supplies to the INDECI, including prefabricated housing units, family tents and solar‑powered lamps. These supplies were intended to aid local initiatives in disaster prevention and mitigation, support emergency resettlement efforts and enhance Peru’s capacity to respond to disasters.
These supplies were dispatched from a UNHCR warehouse in Central America on August 5 and arrived in Peru on August 16. The Peruvian branch of COSCO SHIPPING Lines Co., Ltd. provided end-to-end transportation services, covering warehouse pick‑up, inland transportation, port operations, international ocean shipping, destination‑port handling and final delivery in Lima.
The INDECI’s recognition acknowledges not only COSCO SHIPPING’s reliable transportation services, but also the corporation’s efforts in fulfilling social responsibilities, participating in local public‑welfare programs and safeguarding people’s livelihoods.
COSCO SHIPPING will continue to use its professional logistics services to advance China‑Peru friendly cooperation, support local economic and social development and contribute to more public‑welfare and humanitarian initiatives.
