A cargo flight operated by Air China Cargo Co., Ltd. (Air China Cargo), a subsidiary of China National Aviation Holding Corporation Limited, took off from Beijing Capital International Airport at midnight on August 18 for Bogota, the capital of Colombia.
The plane carried around 80 metric tons of emergency humanitarian supplies provided by the Chinese government to Colombia for relief efforts after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake jolted the country on August 10, resulting in heavy casualties and severe property losses.
The supplies include power generators, water purification facilities, disinfection machines, solar-powered lighting equipment, tents, and blankets, which will provide vital support for post-earthquake drinking water security, temporary resettlement, public health and epidemic prevention and power restoration in Colombia.

Upon receiving the task, Air China Cargo activated its emergency response procedure. As the flight was unscheduled and required overflight and landing permission from 14 countries, the company reached out to relevant authorities and secured all the necessary approvals.
From plan formulation and task execution to domestic coordination and overseas liaison, the company worked to ensure the safe and smooth transportation of the supplies.
