The groundbreaking ceremony for the Anosizato flyover project, which is to be built by the Madagascar Branch of China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC), a subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group, was held in Antananarivo, the country’s capital, on the afternoon of July 31.
Once completed, the Anosizato flyover will stand as the first of its kind in Madagascar’s history. It will optimize Antananarivo’s road network, enhance connectivity between the capital and surrounding towns, boost regional employment and improve local people’s livelihoods.
Adopting a cloverleaf design with four ramps, the flyover will effectively facilitate traffic flow in a limited space and alleviate possible traffic jams caused by crowded vehicles at a normal crossroad. Another benefit the flyover will bring is that National Highway 1 and National Highway 58A will be widened to two-way, four-lane roads, thereby significantly improving regional transport capacity.
CGC has maintained a strong presence in the Madagascar market for many years, successively winning bids for numerous road, water supply and residential construction projects. The construction of this project will further increase the brand influence of Chinese enterprises in Madagascar’s engineering contracting sector and mark a new practical achievement of Belt and Road cooperation between China and Madagascar.
