On April 21, the world’s thickest and heaviest hot-rolled H-beam rolled off the production line of Magang (Group) Holding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited. The H-beam weighs 1,509 kilograms per meter, with the flange as thick as 165 millimeters. This breakthrough makes Magang (Group) Holding Co., Ltd., which is based in Maanshan City, East China’s Anhui Province, the sole supplier of such H-beams in the world.
This H-beam is designed for high-end applications such as ultra-large offshore engineering projects, long-span and high-rise steel structures, nuclear power projects, and other heavy equipment manufacturing sectors. It can meet demanding requirements for construction under extremely complicated conditions, providing specialized core steel materials for major infrastructure projects worldwide.
Many challenges, such as ultra-thick section forming, complicate its production. The manufacturer upgraded technologies related to hot-rolling and temperature control and optimized composition design to address these problems. The H-beam is globally advanced in performance standards, with the dimensional accuracy exceeding industry specifications.
Magang (Group) Holding Co., Ltd. also emphasizes meeting various needs of the market and customers. It has developed a comprehensive system that can offer tailored services, maintaining an advantage in the high-end market while satisfying customers and enhancing brand recognition. In this way, it has become more competitive in the world’s hot-rolled H-beam market.
