World’s First Nanoscale Micro-vibration Laboratory Starts Operations

Updated: April 13, 2026

The world’s first nanoscale micro-vibration laboratory has started operations in Xiong’an New Area, a national-level development project about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing. The lab, built by State Development and Investment Group Co., LTD. (SDIC Group), is a national-level technological innovation platform in the high-end manufacturing sectors.

The key instrument of the lab is a micro-vibration test bed independently developed by China, the world´s largest and most precise of its kind. With a platform measuring 4 meters by 4 meters and a designed load capacity of up to 20 metric tons, it is capable of precisely testing the performance of complete large-scale semiconductor equipment and full-size satellite payloads.

The lab breaks through technological blockades and fills China’s gap in multiple areas, such as micro-vibration testing methodologies, vibration tolerance criteria for precision equipment, evaluation systems for vibration isolation devices and third-party testing services. It provides key support to the independent development of China’s high-end manufacturing sectors, such as the electronic manufacturing process and aerospace information.

SDIC Group will fully leverage its role as a state-owned capital investment company and the technological advantages of China Electronics Engineering Design Institute Co., Ltd., in high-end electronics manufacturing and micro-vibration control, to push for the commercialization of more technological outcomes in Xiong’an New Area.

SDIC Group will also help foster an industrial cluster and new quality productive forces in Xiong’an New Area, thereby contributing more to building the area into an innovation hub and a model of high-quality development in the new era.
