The YHG-1200Q rail flash-butt welder was put to use at the Deqing section of the Hangzhou-Deqing Intercity Railway in East China’s Zhejiang Province on March 22.
The machine, jointly produced by China Railway 11th Bureau Group Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, and CRRC Qishuyan Institute Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited, is China’s first rail welder that can be powered by new energy and work in all construction scenarios.

The welder features an innovative hybrid power solution and is equipped with an intelligent energy management system, enabling charging while welding. With a full battery, it can complete the welding of up to 50 rail joints, thereby addressing the endurance limitations in traditional tools.
Owing to its integrated “long-reach crane” design, the welder can carry out operations on adjacent lines and lower-level rail joints while stationed on the track it serves. The welder's capability of operating in multiple scenarios will enhance the construction resilience and efficiency and advance the green and smart railway construction.
