A ceremony marking the 130th anniversary of the founding of Hrvatska elektroprivreda (HEP) and the power generation of the Korlat Photovoltaic (PV) Project was held on Feb 24 in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
With a 99-megawatt installed capacity, the Korlat project is the largest PV project in Croatia. It can generate about 165 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, meeting the needs of about 50,000 households. It can also reduce about 150,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, conducive to enhancing the country’s supply capacity of clean energy and improving the energy mix. It is the first large PV engineering, procurement and construction project in Croatia undertaken by NORINCO International Cooperation Ltd. (NORINCO International), a subsidiary of China North Industries Group Corporation Limited.

NORINCO International, a participant in China-Croatia energy cooperation, previously built the 156-megawatt Senj Wind Power Project, a template of the international clean energy cooperation between China and the European Union and between China and Croatia. NORINCO International will enhance its cooperation with HEP and other Croatian business partners to steadily promote the development of new energy projects. It will explore integrated applications of multi-energy complementarity and energy storage, and strengthen localization efforts and collaboration with local supply chains. It will improve the full-circle management system consisting of development, construction and operation, thus promoting energy transition in Croatia and China-Croatia cooperation in new energy.
