COSCO SHIPPING Launches Innovative Shanghai-Peru Logistics Model

Updated: January 13, 2026

Peruvian consumers received shipments from Chinese e-commerce sellers through an innovative logistics model recently. It marked the first time that Chinese sellers have adopted ocean freight and employed an express company for customs clearance to enter the Peruvian market. As a new shipping solution with competitive pricing, the model is expected to boost the cost-effectiveness of Chinese products in the global e-commerce market.

Previously, air freight was the sole option for China’s products bound for Peru, resulting in high transportation costs. But now, COSCO SHIPPING Lines Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING), has collaborated with the Peruvian Postal Service (Serpost) to ship cargos via the Shanghai-Chancay sea route. When the vessels arrive at Chancay Port, the postal service handles customs clearance and ensures prompt delivery to local consumers.

The seamless integration of ocean transportation and customs clearance promises consumers lower prices and wider choices. Meanwhile, the stability and scale effect of maritime shipping also help enhance the reliability of commodity supply.

Innovative logistics solutions such as this are set to benefit consumers significantly. In the future, Peruvian shoppers will be able to purchase a wider range of cost-effective products on e-commerce platforms.

The collaboration between COSCO SHIPPING and Serpost has pioneered a reliable and economical shopping channel, delivering substantial benefits to the well-being of local residents.
