In 2025, the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Namibia was marked by the Namibia-China “Generation Z” International Exchange Program organized by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). From September 21 to 29, a delegation of 12 outstanding Gen Z Namibian students were invited to China for a visit centered on scientific and cultural exchange.
The itinerary of the event included visits to CNNC facilities such as the Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology, uranium mining sites, and a nuclear power station. The delegation traveled to various cities, including Beijing, Tongliao in North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Zhangzhou in East China’s Fujian Province, engaging in a range of activities focused on scientific and technological observation tours, cultural immersion events, and interactive dialogues. The Namibian teenagers gained firsthand insight into China’s scientific and technological achievements, advanced technologies, and environmental protection concepts. They also experienced the charm of China’s nuclear technology and industry, and learned China’s commitment as a responsible scientific and technological power.
During the event, the delegation also experienced China’s cultural heritage by touring the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall in Beijing, and Gulangyu in Xiamen. These activities highlighted the depth of Chinese history and the vibrancy of its modern society. Through such meaningful exchanges, the visitors built precious cross-cultural friendships with their Chinese peers and hosts.

Since Namibia and China established diplomatic relations on March 21, 1990, the same day as Namibia’s independence, the two countries have adhered to principles of mutual respect and equality, engaging in extensive cooperation in infrastructure construction, energy resources, medical and health care, education and culture. CNNC’s involvement in Namibia, including managing the Rossing Uranium Mine since 2019, has embodied how actively it has been fulfilling its social responsibilities. Through promoting local procurement, talent cultivation and community building, CNNC has set a vivid example of practical cooperation and people-to-people bonds between China and Namibia.
