To meet the requirements for developing a unified national power market, China Southern Power Grid has overcome bottlenecks in key core technologies for solvers and developed Tianquan, China’s first independently controllable power solver.
Starting from June 28, Tianquan started to support the all-time uninterrupted operation of the Southern Regional Power Market, the world’s largest centrally unified clearing market featuring high-level advanced power market mechanisms. With a computing scale exceeding 2.1 million constraints and 2.3 million variables, its overall performance surpasses that of the world’s top-tier similar software by 14 percent. Tianquan is China’s first domestically made solver, and it is currently the only domestic solver applied in the power industry. As a result, Tianquan is being promoted both domestically and internationally through technology transfer and commercialization.
