Situated in Bukhara City, the project boasts a combined capacity of 1 gigawatt across two wind farms in the Bash and Dzhankeldy areas. These farms house 158 wind turbines, each with a 6.5-megawatt capacity, and are expected to generate 3.59 billion kilowatt-hours annually, accounting for 7 percent of Uzbekistan’s national energy production.
The project will help cut 1.6 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year, boost local power supply and benefit millions of local residents.
Since its inception, the construction team has overcome a variety of challenges such as resource scarcity and extreme climate. By adhering to “lean management” principle, the team has achieved significant milestones, including completing the construction of 14 wind turbines in just one month, and showcased the high standards and quality for which Chinese enterprises are globally renowned.
Energy China will leverage its unique advantages to invest in and develop projects in Uzbekistan, thereby contributing more to China-Uzbekistan cooperation, the upgrade of Central Asia’s energy structure and the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
