On December 18, China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING Group) reported that it has transported over 3 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) so far in 2025 through the Yangpu International Container Port in Danzhou City, South China’s Hainan Province.
In recent years, COSCO SHIPPING Group has pooled a large amount of investment into the port, preparing it for the island-wide special customs operations of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) and the development of the “new western land-sea corridor” initiative.
With two 200,000-ton berths and a 150,000-ton berth now operational, the port can accommodate the world’s largest container ships. Its annual throughput capability is expected to reach 5 million standardized containers.
Complementing this robust infrastructure, 59 domestic and international shipping routes have been introduced, establishing a network that links China with the world.
The port will use the Hainan FTP’s island-wide special customs operations as an opportunity to secure a more prominent position on the international stage and further contribute to the country’s opening-up in the new era.
