Since the 14th Five-Year Plan, China’s road networks have expanded significantly and technological innovations have flourished. These developments have created a robust framework for regional economic growth, enhanced people’s quality of life, and fully demonstrated the strong capabilities and sense of responsibility of central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in major project construction. As vital components of China’s economic development, the transportation networks continue to improve with accelerated technological advancements, propelling China toward becoming a transportation powerhouse at an accelerated pace.

China Railway 14th Bureau Group Corporation Limited undertakes the track-laying on the 535-kilometer Hotan-Ruoqiang Railway in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The railway passes through a 460-kilometer desert area with no water, electricity, roads, human settlements or signals. Innovatively, designers constructed five bridges totaling nearly 50 kilometers, to allow the sand and wind to pass beneath them, significantly reducing the transportation distance by over 1,000 kilometers. The world’s longest-span cable-stayed bridge, the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge in East China’s Jiangsu Province, has reduced travel time between the cities of Changzhou and Taizhou from one hour and twenty minutes to just about 20 minutes. Designed by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co., Ltd., the bridge overcame world-class challenges in long-span construction using four pioneering technologies including a temperature-adaptive longitudinal restraint system for the tower-beam. The Beijing East Sixth Ring Road tunnel is China's longest highway shield tunnel. It was excavated by the largest domestically manufactured tunnel cutter, the Jinghua. So far nearly three million vehicles have passed through the tunnel. China Railway 14th Bureau Group Corporation Limited played a key role in the R&D and manufacturing of the Jinghua, developing a unique synchronous double-fluid grouting technology that fills a crucial gap in China's super-large diameter slurry shield tunnels.
