China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited announced that its vessel “Xing Sheng Yuan”, operated by Dalian Haineng under COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation Co., Ltd., has successfully completed its first ethylene offloading operation at the petrochemical base on Changxing Island in Dalian. The vessel also completed the nation’s first green liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operation.

The vessel is a 2G semi-refrigerated, semi-pressurized dual-fuel gas carrier capable of operating on multiple clean fuels. The green LNG used for bunkering is produced by liquefying biomethane derived from organic waste fermentation, reducing lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by more than 80 percent. By converging “waste into resource” and significantly reducing emissions, the fuel aligns closely with global maritime decarbonization trends and evolving environmental regulations.

The pioneering bunkering operation was jointly carried out by SINOBUNKER, Dalian Haineng, and Anhui Wanbo Energy Technology Co., Ltd. It marks not only a significant step forward for China’s shipping industry in adopting green alternative fuels, but also another milestone for SINOBUNKER, following its advancements in biofuel oil, green methanol, and green ammonia.
