The project is undertaken by China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Engineering Co., Ltd.
The railway spans 300 kilometers, with a designed operating speed of 250 km/h. It consists of the Harbin-Tieli and Tieli-Yichun sections. Since track-laying began on May 28, 2024, China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. has overseen multiple sections, including the entire Tieli-Yichun stretch.

As an extension of the Beijing-Harbin to Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao corridor within China’s “eight vertical and eight horizontal” railway network, the Harbin-Yichun line is the northernmost high-speed railway currently under construction in the country. It features some of the most extreme climate conditions, with the greatest annual temperature variation and is the first high-speed railway to pass through large areas of island-shaped permafrost. The project team adopted targeted engineering solutions and long-term monitoring to ensure safety, stability, and high-quality delivery.

Once completed, the railway will reduce travel time between Harbin and Yichun from about seven hours to under two hours, significantly enhancing transport efficiency and boosting tourism and economic development in Northeast China.
