DEC Delivers Key Equipment for 630°C Ultra-Supercritical Power Project

Updated: December 01, 2025

Built by Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC), the main equipment for the world’s first 630°C ultra-supercritical double-reheat national demonstration power project was loaded on a truck on November 25 for delivery from its manufacturing plant in Deyang, Sichuan Province to the project site in Yuncheng county, Shandong Province.

The Yuncheng power project includes two 1,000-megawatt ultra-supercritical double-reheat coal-fired generating units, for which DEC supplied key equipment such as steam turbines, generators, and boilers. It represents the world’s highest standards in pressure, temperature, and efficiency, while achieving the lowest coal consumption among single-shaft 1,000 MW double-reheat units.

The generating units are equipped with 1,450 mm steam turbine blades independently developed by DEC over eight years — the longest full-speed steam turbine blades in China. The project also utilizes C630R rotors co-developed by DEC’s Dongfang Turbine Co., Ltd., China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group Co., Ltd., China National Erzhong Group Co., Ltd., and other partners, achieving world-leading performance and critical breakthroughs beyond traditional foreign technological routes.

The Yuncheng power project is scheduled for dual-unit commissioning in 2026. Once operational, it is expected to supply 10 billion kWh of electricity annually, saving 350,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 945,000 tons per year, delivering both economic and environmental benefits.
