The clean methanol project at the 100,000-ton level in Shanghai, jointly built by Shenergy Company Limited, Shanghai Chengtou Group Corporation, Shanghai Huayi Holdings Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd., has obtained the ISCC EU and PLUS dual certification for the entire process from raw material supply, methanol production, trade, storage, and transportation to refueling.
Its average carbon emission intensity is over 80 percent lower than that of methanol produced from fossil fuels. This project can meet the refueling demands of international vessels at Shanghai Port for green fuel.
This project is the first clean methanol production project in Shanghai. It is also the largest project in China to produce methanol from biogas, and the largest one in the world that uses waste from a single city as raw material to produce clean methanol.
This project transforms Shanghai’s wet waste and agricultural residues into green fuel for international vessels. Its eleven certificates cover the whole process from production to refueling, giving it a green light to enter the global market and refuel at Shanghai Port.
