The first phase of the China-aided “New Victory” affordable housing project in Nicaragua, built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), has been completed and handed over.
As the first housing project since China and Nicaragua resumed diplomatic relations, it marks a significant step in providing decent housing for all and exemplifies the successful cooperation between the two nations.

The first phase involved the construction of 920 single-story, two-bedroom houses in Managua, along with supporting infrastructure such as roads and pipelines. During implementation, the project team overcame multiple challenges, including long maritime transport cycles for construction materials and frequent heavy rains during Nicaragua’s extended rainy season.
To address supply chain challenges, a dedicated resource group was set up to prepare procurement plans six months in advance, while a domestic logistics platform was established in China to coordinate purchasing and shipping. Regular coordination meetings ensured timely procurement and accurate shipping updates, securing smooth material supply. To cope with the rainy season, the team optimized construction schedules, prioritized outdoor drainage and roadwork before heavy rains, prepared sufficient waterproofing materials for indoor works, and deployed heavy machinery to clear and maintain drainage systems, ensuring smooth progress.
The project also maximized the use of local resources, creating more than 1,000 jobs and contributing to local economic and social development. Now, the completed community has become a vibrant symbol of China-Nicaragua friendship.
