On July 30, the Al Rahba vessel from Oman, loaded with 170,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG), completed unloading at the dedicated terminal of Meizhou Bay Green Energy Port in Fujian Province (Fujian LNG terminal), China’s LNG reserve base constructed by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). This marked the 800th LNG import carrier the terminal received since its launch.

Since welcoming its first LNG carrier in April 2008, Fujian LNG terminal has handled over 49 million tons of imported LNG and delivered more than 70 billion cubic meters of natural gas, providing a solid foundation for energy supply in Fujian Province.
As the province enters the peak summer demand period, Fujian LNG terminal has established a dedicated summer supply guarantee team, tailored specific action plans, enhanced coordination with local government departments, and opened “green channels” for LNG carriers to ensure ample supply resources. The terminal has also strengthened equipment maintenance and testing, carried out comprehensive facility inspections, and conducted regular emergency drills, forming a robust “safety protection network” across the entire LNG receiving, storage, and transmission chain.
Currently, Fujian LNG terminal is accelerating the construction of a 270,000-cubic-meter above-ground full containment LNG storage tank with the largest single-tank capacity in China, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. Once operational, it will boost the facility’s storage capacity by about 30 percent, further enhancing peak-shaving, emergency storage, and supply security capabilities, and providing clean, efficient, safe, and stable energy to Fujian and neighboring regions.
