The main bridge of the Yellow River Grand Bridge, a key segment of the Lankao to Fengqiu stretch of the Lankao-Yuanyang Expressway, achieved a significant milestone as the final cross beam was successfully hoisted, leading to the connection of the bridge deck a month ahead of the initial schedule.

The project was undertaken by China Railway Hi-Tech Industry Co., Ltd. (CRHIC), a subsidiary of China Railway Engineering Co., Ltd.
The Lankao to Fengqiu section has a total length of 30.263 kilometers and has been meticulously designed as a six-lane expressway with a maximum speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour. Among them, the Yellow River Grand Bridge has a total length of 9,104 meters. The remarkable structure is a steel-concrete composite beam three-tower cable-stayed bridge, while the auxiliary bridge consists of twenty 100-meter spans using the same composite structure, making it the largest bridge of its kind in China, showcasing remarkable engineering prowess and innovation. CRHIC is responsible for the manufacturing and installation of about 23,300 tons of steel beams for the main bridge and the eastern levee bridge.

Once operational, a new east-west thoroughfare parallel to the Lianyungang-Khorgos Expressway will be added on both sides of the Yellow River. This development is of great significance in supporting China’s central region development, boosting the development of the Central Plains city cluster, and promoting ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin.
