Richard Babara is a 60-year-old Ugandan with a special bond with China. In 1986, he was one of 11 Ugandan students selected to study in China. After graduating from Beijing Jiaotong University with a degree in mechanical engineering, he stayed in China for 29 years, calling it his “second home.”
When he returned to Uganda, Richard joined the Uganda branch of the China Railway 18th Bureau Group Corporation Limited, determined to put his skills and Chinese language ability to good use. Today, Richard is helping build roads across Uganda and strengthening China-Africa ties through his work and dedication.
