Located in the desert near Kom Ombo, Aswan in southern Egypt, the project covers an area of approximately 10 square kilometers. It features a direct current installed capacity of 560 MW, over one million photovoltaic panels, and a supporting 220 kV step-up substation.
Once operational, the plant is expected to supply clean electricity to around 256,000 Egyptian households annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 760,000 tons per year. The project marks a significant step toward Egypt’s “Vision 2030” for green development and provides a replicable Chinese solution for Africa’s energy transition, contributing to global sustainability efforts with tangible results.
Egypt is one of Energy China’s overseas markets. Looking ahead, the company will continue leveraging its full industrial chain advantages to deepen its involvement in Egypt’s photovoltaic, wind power, energy storage, hydrogen, and gas turbine sectors.
