Built on CRRC’s standardized new energy platform, the locomotive is specifically optimized for Central Asia’s extreme cold conditions. It features a hybrid power system that combines an internal combustion engine with battery power, and integrates digital, intelligent, and green technologies. It delivers five key advantages: environmental sustainability, safety, intelligence, cost efficiency, and reliability.

Compared with traditional diesel locomotives, the intelligent energy management system of the CKD6H offers fuel savings of over 45 percent, an 80 percent reduction in noise emissions, and a significant decrease in pollutant discharge. Each unit can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 240 tons annually, underscoring its strong environmental benefits.

The launch of this locomotive is expected to inject green momentum into Kazakhstan’s railway transportation sector, further enhancing regional connectivity and sustainable development under the Belt and Road Initiative.

CRRC has developed a diversified portfolio of new energy solutions — including hybrid, pure electric, and hydrogen-powered locomotives — and offers customized solutions to meet the varied needs of global customers.
