Gou Ping Meets with Sam Hou-fai, Macao Chief Executive

Gou Ping, Vice Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), met with Sam Hou-fai, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 in Boao, Hainan Province, on March 27.

During the meeting, they exchanged on topics such as the support from the central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) for the moderate diversification of Macao's economy, the development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and the enhancement of scientific and technological cooperation with Macao.

Gou noted, central SOEs firmly implement the guiding principles of the important speeches and instructions made by President Xi Jinping regarding Macao. They are committed to working hand in hand with partners from Macao to jointly support the development of Macao’s economy, improve people's livelihoods, and help Macao better integrate into the country’s overall development.

Gou said, SASAC is ready to enhance exchanges with the Macao SAR government, further guide central SOEs to actively support the construction of Macao as "One Center, One Platform, One Base," accelerate the cultivation of new growth drivers, and promote the moderate diversification of Macao's economy.

Sam said that Macao, with its advantage as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, welcomes central SOEs to set up R&D centers and other scientific research institutions in Macao.

He said he looks forward to continuously deepening exchanges and cooperation with central SOEs to promote the construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

During his stay in Hainan, Gou also visited the Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, the Boao Zero-Carbon Demonstration Zone, and the Hainan Commercial Spacecraft Launch Site.

Relevant officials from the SASAC participated in the aforementioned activities.
