The project is a major breakthrough for China’s clean coal power technology, and features DEC’s independently developed boiler, steam turbine and generator. Its boiler utilizes advanced ultra-supercritical CFB technology, offering high efficiency, large capacity and significant energy-saving and environmental benefits.
By integrating several world-first technologies, the unit achieves a main steam pressure of 29.3 MPa, with main steam and reheat steam temperatures reaching 605°C and 623°C, respectively. The plant boasts an impressive thermal efficiency of 46.34 percent, enabling saving of approximately 175,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon emissions by about 500,000 tons annually. This will make a significant contribution to China’s carbon peak and neutrality goals, while providing a model of energy saving and environmental protection for coal-fired power plants around the world.
Once fully operational, the plant’s total installed capacity will reach 1,300 MW, generating over 8 billion kWh of power annually. It will become the largest stable power source in southern Yunnan, ensuring regional energy security and driving local economic development with a strong green energy boost.
In 2024, it was listed in China’s fourth batch of major first-set energy technology equipment projects.
