Located at the intersection of key national high-speed rail corridors, the station spans approximately 1.23 million square meters, with 15 platforms and 29 tracks. It integrates high-speed rail, urban rail transit, public buses, long-distance coaches, taxis, commercial facilities and office spaces into a comprehensive transportation hub.
The station features the world’s first ultra-tall, multi-curved tree-shaped columns, standing up to 41 meters tall. Their exteriors are adorned with nearly 1,200 stainless steel panels, each 3 mm thick. The elevated waiting hall boasts a highly transparent glass curtain wall, while the ceiling is decorated with 130 kilometers of aluminum round tubes.
The station’s roof incorporates nine spindle-shaped skylights, drawing inspiration from the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. Each skylight spans approximately 2,400 square meters, featuring a fully covered, triangular flat-glass design. Constructed using 1,380 uniquely shaped glass panels, this structure optimizes natural lighting while ensuring high thermal insulation efficiency.
The station’s interior design incorporates regional elements such as mountains, water and forests. The transfer hall’s ceiling merges traditional Chinese “coffered” designs with modern architectural aesthetics and features perforated aluminum panels shaped like Chongqing’s city flower, the camellia, creating a welcoming urban reception hall.
Once operational, the station will significantly boost the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the new western land-sea corridor, further enhancing regional connectivity and economic development.
