Dredging of the Terate River in Indonesia has been completed.
A completion ceremony was held in Terate Village, Serang City, Banten Province on February 18, with around 200 representatives attending the event, including those from PT Shenhua Guohua Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PT SGPJB), the Indonesia-based subsidiary of China Energy Investment Corporation Co., Ltd. (CHN Energy), as well as local government, fishermen's associations and community members.
Due to excessive growth of aquatic plants and sediment accumulation, the Terate River had long been silted up, severely affecting local fishermen's access to the sea. In May 2024, the Serang City Fishermen's Association asked PT SGPJB to assist in dredging the river. With an investment of over IDR 1 billion ($63,000) from PT SGPJB, the three-month-long dredging operation successfully cleared a 2.2-kilometer stretch of the river, significantly improving navigation conditions.

Robani, chairman of the Terate Branch of the Indonesian Fishermen's Association, said, "Now that the dredging project is successfully completed, fishing activities have become much safer and more convenient.
“We sincerely appreciate the support of PT SGPJB, whose concrete actions have set a great example for corporate social responsibility."
PT SGPJB remains committed to becoming an environmentally and socially responsible power generation enterprise. While continuously providing Indonesia with safe, affordable and clean energy, the company actively fulfills its corporate social responsibilities. It has undertaken initiatives such as supporting local villagers, launching the "Annie's Wish" education program, advancing the "Hope Village" charity project, and implementing mangrove and wildlife conservation programs during operational periods. Through these efforts, PT SGPJB fosters a harmonious relationship with local communities and promotes sustainable development, earning widespread recognition.
The company has received Indonesia's Environmental Blue Rating Certification for three consecutive years. In 2023, it was awarded the "Best ESG Program in Indonesia" by Asian Power. In 2024, it was selected as one of the first ESG evaluation pilot units for power engineering projects by the China Electric Power Construction Enterprise Association, further demonstrating its leadership in green and low-carbon development and contributing to Indonesia's sustainable future.
