Departing from Shanghai, the vessel passed through the Suez Canal in Egypt on its way to the port of Derince in Turkey. By choosing this route, the vessel shortened its journey by approximately 45 percent and reduced sailing time by 18 days.
According to the captain, the decision to pass through the Suez Canal rather than the Cape of Good Hope was influenced not only by the shorter distance but also by more favorable weather conditions.
So far, the vessel has sailed over 9,600 nautical miles, with its next destination being Livorno Port in Italy.
Designed by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited and built by Wuhu Shipyard, the AICC Huanghu has an overall length of 199.9 meters and a beam of 38 meters, featuring 12 decks (four of which are movable). With a capacity of 7,000 standard car equivalent units, the vessel can carry various types of vehicles, including passenger cars, trucks, construction machinery and new energy vehicles.
The vessel adopts the latest generation WinGD intelligent controlled exhaust gas recirculation (iCER) system, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 28 percent, which meets the strict Tier III emission standard requirements of the International Maritime Organization.
