The 9th Asian Winter Games, themed “Dream of Winter, Love among Asia”, opened on February 7 in Harbin, drawing athletes from across Asia. Behind the scenes, CHN Energy Investment Group (CHN Energy) has played a crucial role in supplying green, reliable energy to ensure warmth and safety for athletes, spectators and event venues.
A key contributor, Heilongjiang Company, a subsidiary of CHN Energy, prioritized stable power and heating for the Games. The company pre-stocked essential equipment and spare parts for heating network maintenance, developed comprehensive emergency plans, and conducted multiple drills to enhance its crisis response. Its 24/7 real-time monitoring of heating systems enabled precise temperature control at curling venues, athlete accommodations and nearby residential areas.
China Longyuan Power Group Corporation Limited Heilongjiang Company mobilized five wind farms to operate at full capacity, generating 2.4 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity daily for competition venues. The company also intensified equipment inspections using drones and infrared thermometers, maintained a reserve of cold-weather and emergency supplies, and executed rigorous drills to secure reliable energy output.
CHN Energy Guoyuan Power Co., Ltd. Baoqing Coal Power and Chemical Company leveraged its coal-power integration strengths to optimize mining schedules and production workflows, consistently producing 7 million kWh of power per day. Enhanced emergency preparedness measures allowed the company to effectively counteract severe weather conditions and guarantee a steady supply of coal and electricity.
China Energy Baorixile Energy Co,. Ltd. introduced comprehensive anti-freezing measures focused on hazard prevention and operational stability. Its railway transport system implemented stricter safety protocols for winter operations, including increased track inspections and on-site safeguards, to ensure secure locomotive performance.
In addition to energy supply, CHN Energy also contributed through volunteer efforts. A 56-member team from its Harbin-based subsidiaries provided assistance at key locations such as Harbin West Railway Station, metro stations and event venues. Volunteers offered directions, ticketing assistance and luggage handling, and distributed heating pads, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience for visitors.
By ensuring stable power, heating and transportation support, CHN Energy has not only safeguarded the event against harsh winter conditions but also empowered athletes to perform at their best while allowing spectators to fully embrace the excitement of the Games.
