China’s State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) signed a contract to provide 2 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity to the 9th Asian Winter Games’ venues on February 7.
The green electricity is sourced from SPIC Heilongjiang Company’s Gubei Wind Farm.
SPIC Heilongjiang Company has planned meticulously for power security and proactively addressed the challenges posed by extreme weather conditions, including formulating specialized energy security plans and establishing a dedicated task force to guarantee uninterrupted power supply during the Games.
In Suihua’s Anda City, home to Heilongjiang Province’s first high-latitude, cold-climate photovoltaic base with an annual generation capacity of 1.5 billion kWh, large-scale energy storage facilities were deployed as an emergency energy backup for the Games.
At the Daqing Haizhi Wind Farm, a smart station pilot site, operators worked alongside robotic assistants to conduct comprehensive inspections of transmission lines and turbine blades, ensuring stable power generation.
During the Games, SPIC Heilongjiang Company’s production system has implemented 24-hour dual-staff monitoring, with maintenance teams on standby and increased inspection frequency to ensure the safety and reliability of power supply. SPIC’s efforts underscore its commitment to contributing intelligence and strength to a green Asian Winter Games.
