CHD Powers 2025 Asian Winter Games With Green Electricity

Updated: January 08, 2025

The signing ceremony for green electricity transactions for the 2025 Asian Winter Games recently took place in Harbin, the capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang province. China Huadian Corporation LTD. (CHD)’s Heilongjiang company, as the largest green electricity supplier and broker for this year’s Games, was invited to attend the event.

Adhering to the principle of hosting a sustainable and eco-friendly event, Heilongjiang province has drawn inspiration from the green electricity trading practices of major international events such as the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. It has provided policy guidance, promoted trading rules and organized active participation from various stakeholders, including power sales companies and power generation enterprises. For the first time in the history of the Asian Winter Games, 100 percent green electricity will power the competition venues, supporting facilities, and infrastructure during both the test and official events.

As the largest power generation and heating enterprise in Heilongjiang, CHD’s Heilongjiang company will supply 36.61 million kWh of green electricity for the Games, accounting for 65 percent of the event’s total green electricity demand. Additionally, its power sales company will broker 21.44 million kWh of green electricity, representing 28 percent of the total.
